Why should I consider Invisalign?  What is so cool about it?

  •  the clear aligners are almost invisible to others   (no metal tracks to make you look 13)
  • you can remove them to eat, brush and floss  (no lettuce stuck during a meal and doesn’t take an extra 30 minutes a day to floss)
  • the aligners are comfortable to wear  (no wires cutting your cheeks)

Why should I worry about getting my teeth straightened as an adult?

The benefits of properly aligned teeth go way beyond a pretty smile.  Crooked teeth are hard to clean, more prone to decay, and can contribute to jaw pain.

  • Healthier Gums-   Swollen, red gums can be the result of having teeth that are crowded and hard to clean between.  When the teeth are properly aligned, it helps the gum tissue fit more securely around the teeth, which is the best defense against potential periodontal problems.
  • Happier Jaws-   Teeth that are not properly aligned and have an improper bite can lead to jaw pain and  excessive wear on the enamel.

How does it work?

The first appointment is a complimentary exam with Dr. Neely to make sure you are a candidate for Invisalign.  If your situation is too complex for Invisalign, or if traditional braces would be a better option for you, Dr. Neely will refer you to the orthodontist.

To get started with Invisalign we will take photos and impressions of your teeth.  We may be able to digitally scan your teeth with the Iterro rather than traditional impressions.

Invisalign will use this information to create a 3D rendering of the plan of tooth movements from start to end of treatment.   You will be able to view this 3D imaging prior to starting the plan.

You will wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.  As you switch to the next set of aligners, your teeth with move little by little.  You will come in to see Dr. Neely about once every 6 weeks to make sure your treatment is progressing as needed.

Treatment time averages 9-15 months, depending on severity of crowding and spacing in your mouth.
