Intraoral Camera

The intraoral camera is another innovation that is beneficial to both dentist and patient. The intraoral camera consists of a small probe with a lens on the end. Dr. Neely moves the camera around the inside of the mouth, taking video images which are displayed on a computer screen. We call this "taking a tour of your mouth".  Dr. Neely can freeze the images to point out an area of concern to the patient, and record information for future analysis. Based on her findings during the examination, Dr. Neely can judge the condition of the teeth and gums, identify potential problem areas, and make recommendations for treatment. We believe that all patients should be fully aware of the present condition of their teeth.  This allows us to work with the patient in a "co-discovery" way. We utilize this technology at every recall appointment and also new patient exams.

Dr. Neely and her team use the  SoproLife imaging fluorescence device, an extremely useful tool in detecting dental cavities early and effectively. This intraoral camera enables us to see pictures of your teeth and mouth with 50 times magnification allowing for a more thorough diagnosis. The SoproLife allows us to determine if a dark area on your tooth is just stain, or if it has developed into a cavity. We are able to detect cavities when they are very small which means less tooth has to be drilled out to fix the cavity, and the tooth remains stronger.
